Our fisheries officers recently returned nearly 3000 juvenile Arctic Charr into Llyn Padarn in Snowdonia.
It’s part of our conservation plan to protect this rare ice-age fish
They were collected as fertilised eggs from Afon y Bala, a tributary of the lake, back in December 2017.
They’ve been reared in our Cynrig Hatchery
At an average weight of 18.8 grammes, they are now back in their native habitat.
They swam away strongly on release into the depths of the lake.
